Dear Painters and Friends, I hope you had a creative winter with time to paint, new experiences and most of all, fun being immersed in any form of artistic endeavor. While there is still a nip in the air, I am already dreaming of being back in Andalusia this June, on the edge of the small village of Ferreirola, to be precise. I will return to the lovely Casa Ana, a large, 400 year old one time family home, the base for my Spanish painting course, high in the Alpujarra, in southern Spain (31 May - 7 June) With south-facing terraces, garden and spectacular river gorge panorama, it is a wonderful place to paint from. The village itself has great views of classic whitewashed buildings with attractive balconies, narrow old roads, orange and lemon trees, grape-wines and a very special water fountain. The daily demonstrations (in-or outdoors) will help you to get started and find your ‘way in’. Tuition, mainly in watercolour, will deal with general painting problems such as basic perspective, choice of colour, composition, shadows and many other tricks of the trade. Casa Ana itself has a reputation for high level comfort, superb food and a creative ambience. From there we will be visiting inspiring painting locations to nearby villages and surrounding beauty spots. The area has also delightful walks with sparking water springs on the way, in case you want to go for a sunset stroll after the painting day. For those familiar with the books of Chris Stewart (‘Driving Over Lemons’ and others), who lives not far from the Casa Ana, the spectacular natural paradise of the Alpujarra’s might seem familiar already, but for the rest of us, they are a treat in store. You are all more than welcome to join me next June and paint with me in the magical landscapes of the Sierra Nevada.
Until then all the best with your creative work, Bettina For bookings go to: https://www.casa-ana.com/painting-holidays-casa-ana-bettina-schroeder For further information about Casa Ana, bookings or the painting holiday, please contact Tinca at: [email protected] Mobile: 0034 616 151 041 PS: You might want to extend your painting-week and stay longer to visit the amazing magnificent historic city of Granada, home to the renowned Alhambra, an ancient citadel and palace.
