This painting weekend will give you the opportunity to capture famous London views and discover lesser known and intimate corners.
Top of the list is one of London's best-known landmarks, Tower Bridge, which makes an unmissable painting subject - especially if seen from the South Bank with its classic view of the Tower of London beyond. The surrounding squares are also a great spot for sketching passers-by and brushing-up your life drawing.
We will also have the pleasure to paint in an exclusive secret garden. This wonderful garden, situated right next to the Georgian splendours of Regent's Park, is made even more exciting by having two distinctive parts reachable via an old tunnel. A little gazebo nestling in a corner gives shade on a hot summer's day, and rumour has it that a certain member of the royal family paints here when duty calls him to Town!
During the weekend you will be invited to observe an artist at work as guest of famous illustrator and designer Beverlie Manson. Beverlie's loft apartment is in the heart of the new Bohemia in London's Victorian East End and is also a location for many photo and film shoots. The loft interior makes an intriguing subject for the painter and we will spend a day there sketching and painting at our leisure.
Around the corner is the influential White Cube Gallery, and the renowed old Eagle pub, immortalised in the nursery rhyme, "Half a Pound of Tuppeny Rice" - as is Jamie Oliver's famous restaurant, 'Fifteen', where our weekend concludes with a gastronomic flourish.
Most painting holidays run every year, so ask Bettina about future dates if you need to.
